Excellent Heat Resistance

Poor Corrosion Resistance
The presence of copper reduces the corrosion resistance of 2000 series aluminium, particularly in humid or marine environments. As a result, surface treatments (e.g., anodising or coating) are often required to improve corrosion resistance in practical applications.
Good Machinability
2011 Aluminum: Known as a "free-cutting alloy," it offers excellent machinability and is suitable for high-precision parts produced on automatic lathes.
2024 Aluminum: Suitable for machining and forging but not ideal for welding.
High Fatigue Strength but Poor Weldability
2000 series aluminium exhibits excellent fatigue resistance, making it suitable for structural components under cyclic loads.
